Summer Hill Barracudas

Summer Hill Barracudas is a summer league recreation team.  The Barracudas season runs from mid- May through the end of June.  Summer Hill Barracudas are members of the Oconee Swim league and compete in the OSL Championship meet held in late June.

 

Summer Hill Orcas – Non Competitive

The Orcas non-competitive team practices from September – March each year.  The non-competitive team focuses on developing stroke fundamentals and improving technique. 

 

Summer Hill Orcas – Competitive

Orcas Competitive team is a year-round, USA Swim team located in Oconee County.  The year-round team offers two seasons, Short Course (September – March) and Long Course (April – July).  All competitive swimmers  will be registered with USA Swimming and encouraged to participate in all or most of the meets on the competition schedule. 

 

Spring Swim Clinic

This 5 week stroke clinic is a great way to gear up for summer swimming.  Instructors will focus on the fundamentals of all four strokes: freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly.  Also, streamlining, pullouts, dives and wall turns will be taught.

Competitive Swimmers

Summer Hill Orcas Swim Club is a USA Swimming year-round team located in Oconee County. 

 

Junior Competitive

For experienced swimmers age ten and under, the Junior Competitive squad will focus on the mechanics of all four competitive strokes, kicking, streamlines, starts and turns and an introduction to race pacing. Swimmers in this group are encouraged to attend all or most competitions on the competition schedule. This group practices from 5:30-6:30 p.m., Monday-Friday.

 

Advanced Junior Competitive

For experienced swimmers in the 11-12 age group, the Advanced Junior Competitive squad will focus on mastering balance and core drills, using the pace clock for interval training, race pacing without losing technical skill, building a high aerobic base and evolve from swim practice to swim training. The goal of swimmers in this group should be to achieve state level qualifying standards and prepare for entry into the senior level groups. Swimmers in this group are encouraged to attend all or most competitions on the competition schedule.

This group will train from 5:30-7:00 p.m., Monday-Friday.

 

Senior Competitive

Senior 2

For experienced swimmers in the 13 & older age group, Senior 2 introduces swimmers to a higher level of training required to excel at the senior level. Primary goals of swimmers in this group should be to attend 4-5 practices per week and are strongly encouraged to attend all competitions on the competition schedule, competing in all standard distances offered. We do expect a wide range of physical, mental and motivational levels in this group and will coach according to the needs of each individual.

This group will train from 6:30-8:30 p.m., Monday-Friday and 5:30-7:30 a.m., Tuesday & Thursday (by invitation of the coaching staff).

Senior 1

For experienced swimmers in the 13 & older age group, Senior 1 works to evolve the swimmer from learning to train to learning to achieve. The goal of this group is to form a cohesive training unit that will allow these swimmers to succeed at state, sectional and zone level prominence. Swimmers in this group are expected to participate in 5-6 practices per week and are strongly encouraged to attend all competitions on the competition schedule.

This group will train from 6:30-8:30 p.m., Monday-Friday and 5:30-7:30 a.m., Tuesday & Thursday
